i went to the advanced autos and they had manuals for other cutlass but not mine. it is a 305 v8 sbc 87 olds cutlass supreme classic. not sure what other cars have same parts.

Just get the regular Cutlass manual. I believe they have one for 78-88 and they usually tell you if something is different for later model Cuttys.

Haynes no: 73015 ,covers cutlass 74-88

My father's car is also a 305 sbc - I can't recall if the manual covers the sbc, but I'm sure it does. If it doesn't just get one for a Monte and you'll be fine - they are mechanically identical.

I have the manual that Bigdan mentioned and it does cover the Chevy engine. It pretty much describes the process to take it apart and overhaul in general. It notes the differences between Olds, Chevy, and Buick V6 engines. It does have all of the torque specs and tolerances for each engine. Depending on what type of info you are looking for, it may or may not be in the Haynes. The factory service manual will have the most in depth info.
