I believe it's GRP ( Glass reinforced plastic). I stripped mine CAREFULLY using paint stripper. I didn't give it more than a few minutes to set up and only did small areas at a time. You could have it media blasted using a gentle media (not sand) like Armex (baking soda), for example.

Anybody know what the gbody header panels are made of. Numerous coats of paint....would like to strip it.

Use a paint stripper recommended for Corvettes or fiberglass boats and you'll be fine.

SMC is what GM uses on cars like the 4th gen F body. It's white, but the G body panels are gray. It was also a more 90's thing as that is when GM started loving the use of SMC body panels on Saturns, Cadillac fenders and a number of forgettable minivans like the Lumina APV and it's many hideous clones.

Thanks for all the input......My son has a Sodablasting Co. I just did the fenders, hood and decklid today matter a fact. Thought about using that on the header panel only turning the pressure down from 150 #'s to around 60- 80#'s on the back side and headlight cavities. I'll tape off the finished areas beforehand and handsand those later. If it works I'll use it on the quarter extensions too. Thanks again!!! Didn't want to do something I'd regret later before asking. Check out the boy's WEB site. www.centrasodablasting.com

I agree. I would try it on the areas you don't see first. If it strips them with no harm, do the other areas next. I have never used soda blasting, but from what I have read it is very gentle to the base material and can even strip the paint off a Coke can without harming the can itself.

PS: Please resize your pic to a smaller size. It is skewing the posts.
