I have a stock 305 '83 Cutlass Supreme.
Would headers from a 283 '67 Caprice fit my G body?
If not, what would I look for?
I'm half heartedly looking for decent used(or new budget minded)headers for the car.
I have a 2.25" header back dual exhaust kit with Cherry Bomb Turbos.
If I can't find inexpensive headers,I'll run the duals off the stock manifolds.
I am in Ottawa,Ontario,Canada if you have a pair nearby....

Thanks for any information.

85,

TY for the correction. I swear i read 307. 😀

nice looking exhaust system! haha

lemme know how it sounds when you get it installed

Ones for a 1967 full size Chevy likely won't fit because the steering is set up completely differently than your G body. The late 60's/early 70's Chevy B body is a rear steer car and the 68-88 GM intermediate A/G body is front steer.meaning the steering linkage is in front of the crossmember. Plus, the G car is a narrower chassis than the big Chevy.

This may be a stupid question, but why not just get the correct headers for a G-body with a small block Chevy. There must be at least a dozen different manufacturers that make them.

I think i'm gonna try these on my car, going to need a floor shifter though in my 82 old cutlass 4dr

One thing I would caution anyone about with regards to cheap headers is flange thickness. If they are too thin, they will never seal. I have the Edelbrock headers on my G body and went 50k miles without ever having a blown gasket or even needing to re torque them. I had a $99 set from Hedman years ago on my AMC 360 powered Spirit and the flanges were so thin that they bent when I torqued them! I replaced them with a set of Hooker super comps and had no problems because the flanges were twice as thick. Remember that a bad header leak will eventually burn an exhaust valve or can cause a lean pop through the carb. They can also hit components and cause the trans to overheat if they are too close. Plus, cheap ones have poor ground clearance if you get long tubes. Now if you plan on manifolds, get a set from a 80's F body with a TPI 350 as they have a larger outlet (2 1/4 in vs 1 7/8) and will make more power.
