Hello everyone I am a newbie and wandered if any one would tell me if this is a worth while purchase to squeeze some more HP out of my LT1 for drag racing purposes.

I own a 1987 Olds Cutlass 2dr with a 1995 LT1. The car weighs about 3500 lbs. It came with a power sunroof. Bumpers havebeen gutted and heater box removed. The car weighs about 3500 lbs. I purchased the motor from a local scrap yard car wreck 1995 camaro 5 yrs ago not knowing much about the motor and figured I could bolt on a regular chevy 4bbl manifold and go racing! I know very little about fuel injection and would rather strap a rochester 4bbl on.

I was in for a awakening. Anyways, I purchased a 4bbl intake from gm and the LT hot cam kit.Rebuilt a rochester quadrajet with fuel mods . Stock heads redone locally. Water pump drive kit. Accel HEI ignition. Matched the intake and exhaust ports to Headmen 1 5/8" shorties. 200 4R trans built by B Bendtsen transmissions Minnesota. TCS 3500 stall torque converter. 4.11 8.5" with ford axle retainers built by my dad who is a machinist and home made shortened axles. Motor never been on a dyno I believe it is around 425 hp what is your estimate?

I would like to switch to a full length header possibly 1 3/4" by schoenfeld? They make a set for g body chassis which are for the vortec fastburn heads which I believe have similar D shaped exhaust ports. They are in my price range.

The quickest 1/4 mile time is 12.602 1/4 mile et with a 1.71 60ft time 105.17 mph 7.9561 1/8 et 85.23mph

Cam specs

LT4 hot cam kit with 1.6 roller rockers (218 deg intake/ 228 deg exhaust @ .050"
.525" intake/ .525" exhaust lobe separation ?

Would this be a good purchase to gain some power? for $200 and change?
Any opinions?

Thank you

Bill Jeffers

I wouldn't know why not. Then maybe a shot of spray and you be in the 11s.
