I recently purchased a set of Hookers new Darkside Headers part number 2451-3HKR from Jegs. I went to put them in and had nothing but trouble. The driver side hits the motor mount cup and I haven't even tried to check for clutch linkage clearance. The passenger side hits the rear of the upper control arm. Should I just keep them and dent the problem areas, or send them back for a different brand? I've been trying to get this car ready for college all summer and the parts start showing up and the headers don't fit (I'm not going back to manifolds).

Its an 1985 Monte Carlo SS that has a camed 305cid, Tremec 5 speed, and I'm using a mechanical clutch linkage

Ideas?

Thanks, Mike

I would send them back if you can, but i have some used hooker comp, headers just waiting to be given away, they are dimpled on one tube, and rust looking but you can have em for shipping and beat the hell out of them untill you can find somethingf that fits better

I would send them back. Reason being according to Summit website they are for Monte Carlo... 70-77. They are for a manual trans though. I've never tried putting an a-body header in a g-body so I dunno...

Thanks to everyone who replied. I talked to George at Jegs and he's going to send me another set. He said this shouldn't have happened and that it was probably a jig issue. Hopefully the new set will be better.

Thanks, Mike
