Hello, I am new to G-body forum. Actually, This is my first time posting on any forum.
I have an '84 Monte Carlo CL, 57,000 original miles and everything on it is original still. I would like to find some direct-fit headers for it. Any suggestions? I know an engine swap would be best but I'm not looking to turn it into a high performance vehicle. Just a little added performance with better MPG. Any info would be appreciated - redBeard

So do you want a header that will bolt in place of your current exhaust manifolds (direct fit) which would be more of a shorty header or do you plan on modifying your exhaust to accept a full or mid length header?
Does your car have to comply with emissions standards for your state and if so it will require a 49 or 50 state legal header.

These will work great if your Gbody is actually a pick up truck or an suv.

a guy nearby has the headers I posted idk what mods he did to get them in there... His exhaust dips kind of low and exits by the rear wheels.

Why would you use headers that need modifications to fit and hang low when just about every header manufacturer makes a sbc in a Gbody header and many at reasonable prices besides the fact that the OP is asking for a direct fit which makes your recommendation completely opposite of what he wants.

What kind of price range did you have in mind?
G body headers can run anywhere from $100 all the way to $1000 and the options are endless if emissions is not a concern.
And welcome to the forum.

I guess he won't buy it then. They do fit and they're only $120 though...

You are saying they do fit but you contradict yourself with your previous comment saying you don't know what modifications he did and his exhaust hangs low, you are recommending something that you obviously have no experience installing and if the OP takes your advice and has all kinds of fitment issues you can't tell him why or how to resolve them.
Maybe talk to the guy and find out what modifications are needed and post that information so that the OP can make an educated decision on what he wants if saving money takes priority than this could be a possible option.

I had headers on my 85 GP with a 305... If I remember correctly they were these:

I got the car with these headers and to make the emissions legal they welded bungs to the headers to install the factory AIR tubes also had cats with 02 sensor's before and after cats... Worked OK till I swapped in a targetmaster 350 with a 1406 Edelbrock carb and it failed smog! :? BUT I did manage to pass once! and it did have 4:10's & a turbo 350 felt like a badass!! BTW I also used this kit later http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance- ... oreDetails and doing a crossmember notch worked out OK.... i'm still using the 2.5 exhaust kit with my LS swap and I must admit I need to redo it!! :puke: :puke:
