I just put the headers on my engine to see how they fit, and the one tube is hitting the oil filter adapter. Is this a common problem? Should I just smack a little dent in there so it wil clear? It is only hitting by about a 16th of an inch. By the way this is an Olds 350.

Thanks for the help.

They probably should not do that. I would say it is a bad thing and could over heat your oil. You need to get it at least an inch away. Then, you will need to fabricate a heat shield of some sort. It can either reflect radiant heat, or block heat. I have long tubes on my AMC, and they touch the trans pan in one small spot, but they still manage to over heat the transmission. Considering that your problem is at least a foot of tubing closer to the engine, it is likely even hotter there, and so it is worse.

G Body Headers

I have an 81' Malibu & want to know if Hooker Super Comp headers from a 67-69 Camaro w/ BB Chevy will fit. I currently have a SB Chevy w/ headers out of 80' Camaro & had a pair from a 68' Camaro in it. I tried to cross reference, but no luck yet. Thanks,Brian....

I think BB Chevy headers are different than SB Chevy, no matter what car.

BB Headers

I'm dropping in a 454 in my car very soon & am looking for a set of headers. I was asking if headers from a 67-81 camaro BB Chevy would work. I currently have a sb chevy in it & have used headers from a 68 & 80 camaro's. Thanx.....
