So heres the problem I hope someone can help
-84 el camino has big block and tall valve covers
-Car came stock with non-ac hearter box
-Valve cover on passenger side runs into the heater box
-I want to keep the heater/defroster since minnesota weather can turn on you.

Ive looked into the acdelete kit but not sure if it works with the non-ac box which puts the blower on the side closest to the fender so the big block valve covers will fit no problem.

I was wondering if the venting under the dash hooks up to the boxes the same way for both the non-ac and ac boxes and if the controls for the non-ac box will work with the moded ac box.

I'll put up some pics later when i get home so more clarification.

what the previous owner did to mine was bust a hole in it to clear the valve covers. and thats it. you could try that but then cover the hole with fiberglass or whever you prefer.

Here's a novel idea, why not just buy a set of regular chrome valve covers, eliminate the tall ones and it will fit. Instead of hacking a hole in your heater box which will make your heater useless or not as efficient.

When I was swinging my Pontiac 400 into my Malibu I kind of smashed the heater box right where you are having interference. There's no critical component there so I just fiberglassed it closed and carried on.

I don't think any of the elky's in the G-Body era, none of the G-Body's for that matter came with the Big Blocks, so you will have to fabricate something...or do what blake442 said..............

not trying to be a butt hole but you might want to check for spring binding your valve spring doesnt look good :?: :?

Well i guess the low profile valve covers are out of the question with that monster valve train. I have a 455 in my car and i can't fit tall valve covers so i use low profile ones, but i have regular valve rockers.

I'm all for heat & a/c but another option is to just get rid of the heat box and get a delete panel. I wouldn't do that myself unless it was strictly a race car.
