I've got some confusion on which Heater Control Valve I need and where it goes. The one I pulled off was inches from the firewall/heater core and was attached by just a short piece of heater hose. There were no threads on this valve and both sides had slip on nipples. Very similar to this one without the bracket.

After doing an exhaustive search, the one that goes with my 80 El Camino has threads that fit into something??

Would one of you great guys take a peek under your hood and please tell me what kind of valve you have and where it is? If it screws into something I would guess the intake manifold, the problem is I have no motor in the car now, so I can't even guess where it might go.

Thanks!

Don't know about the Chevy, but my Olds has it threaded into the intake in the back right corner.

The screw-in valves go into the water port at the right rear (passenger side) of the intake. So long as the valve is normally open and only closes when vacuum is applied, you can use either the screw-in or the in-hose valve. Functionally they are equivalent.

The right rear throws me off. I'm assuming that is a stock intake? The only thing I can recall is the normal heater nipple by the goose neck in the front of the manifold and the manifold vacuum behind the carburetor,
