The engine, inner fender wells and front suspension are out of the 1978 Wagon and while in there, I thought I'd replace the heater core.

How do I get the Heater Core out? I am familiar with the 70-72 Chevelle / Monte Carlo having to go in through the interior and through the right front inner fender well.

What is the process on the 1978? If there is a link to this discussion before please let me know. The project is almost done and will post pics when done.

Quite simply, you remove the blower fan and fiberglass cover on the AC/Heater box in the engine bay, and it pulls out.

Tricky part is making sure that ALL the screws are out before trying to take off the lid, and work around it gently to get the sealer loose without breaking the lid.

what he said. if i remember correctly, you have to remove the chrome at the bottom of the windshield to get to some of the screws.

just did mine a month or to ago and yes you have to remove the chrome and look down into the heater box to get the two screws out before you try to pull up on it, I started to take pics of mine but forgot just take your time and make sure you get all the screws out before you start pulling . What helped me alot was to take a flathead screwdriver and scrape as much of the sealer off as possable before you try to take it out expecially right under the windshield... Need any help hit me up
