Hi I'm Tim, just signed up today on the gbody site. To be short and sweet, when I open my door I can start my car, when I shut my door I can't. It has to do with the push button in the door jam. I tried holding the button in while turning the key to the start position, as soon as I let off the button in the door jam it will start. This started with the red clip that goes into the fuse box (inside), if I shut my door hard it jars the clip and somehow loses connection. There are 2 wires that goes into the clip, orang with black stripe, and a thicker black wire. I cut the wires off the clip, wired them together and inserted them into a wire fitting and plugged it in the position on the fuse box. It's a really tight fit, but still will only start with the door open. Idk what else to do, it's no big deal just bugs me bc I can't figure it out lol. Before I required the clip it wouldn't start with the door open, OR closed, UNLESS I wiggled the clip.

As of now the car starts with the door open wether the wires are plugged in the fuse box or not.
That's for the help and sorry for the long story lol.

Welcome, Im not sure what the problem would be other than two wires had rubbed together until they made contact. The only thing the door jamb switch controls is the lights under the dash and dome light.

It has to control more than that, because I can hold my finger over the door jam button and it will not start until I let off the button. Those wires go to the "power" on the fuse box.thats what it's labeled. I can see the orange and black wire from the door jam switch to the "power" on the fuse box.
