Help asap fellas- timing questions..

Ok so today i bought a timing light with a timing advance knob dealio on it, my tab is the stock 305 behind the waterpump circle deal, well i plugged vacuum advance, hooked it up, set the knob on the gun on zero fired her up and my balancer mark is right in the middle of the circle when #1 fires, is this where i want it??? should i advance it some????

i did everything at idle.

i got it guys nevermind. i put it at 8 btdc should give me right around 30 total from what ive read.

8btdc is ok @idle
