im in the process of putting a 350 with a th350 trans in my 83 olds cutlass cruiser. my driveshaft is too long i was wondering if anyone knew if any of the other gbodys may have a shaft thats a few inches shorter than i can just bolt in?

You can use one out of an 85-87 El Camino but make sure it has an overdrive trasmission and it should bolt right up, good luck

The ElCo driveshaft is THIRTEEN inches longer than those on other G-body cars due to the difference in wheelbase (119" for the ElCo vs. 108" for all other G-body cars).

What TH350 are you using? A short tail TH350 is the same length as the TH200 so a stock driveshaft will work fine. If you have a long tailhousing TH350 you'll need a custom cut driveshaft.

And since this will come up next, the only way to change the tailhousing is to completely disassemble the trans because the output shaft must be changed also.

Hey Joe, where are you getting 13"? Yes I know it's longer, but since the wheelbase is only 11' longer, i'd figure on the driveshaft being about the same.

OOPS, sorry, my math mistake. You are correct, it's eleven inches. For some reason I I was thinking one foot plus one inch longer. DOH!

Haha, it happens. Just wanted to make sure. And hopefully not mess up anyone else reading this.
