I hate to be that annoying guy on forums making threads about the same crap with no eventual progress, but to make a longer story short, I made a thread here about which crate motor to pick, took forever, then bought one, only for it not to come in 2 weeks, delayed to 4 weeks, promised to arrive by the 6th week...then ...

so thanks to Summit's great customer service, I dropped the ATK 355, and went with a blueprint 383. Why blueprint? the guys that had over 1,000 miles on them on various forums gave very good reviews for that specific engine.

Back to the engine... I need a few things, so if anyone could help me with some part #'s to complete this engine before I call up my mechanic I will be extremely grateful. It was shipped yesterday, so it should be here by Monday at the latest.

85 Monte Carlo SS

CAM - roller, .528 Intake .536 Exhaust, 230 Intake / 240 Exhaust duration @ .050 - 112 degree lobe separation
HEADS - http://www.blueprintengines.com/ind...tem/bp-195cc-sb-chevy-aluminum-cylinder-heads
Intake - Edelbrock 7501
Carb - Holley 0-3310S
Balancer - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-161400
Dist - MSD (don't know my part number, but it only has about 400 miles on it)

I already have a 350 with the rest of the parts, but I'd like to go with as much new as possible, within a budget though. I still need a flexplate, mechanical fuel pump, headers, and anything else you guys can come up with that I'm forgetting. Thanks!!

So what's your transmission/torque converter and rear gear? Is this a street car?

Do you have all the brakets for the belt driven parts, what about the power steering and alternator. Summit sells plenty of flexplates that are sfi approved. Why wont you go electric fuel pump. With a engine like that i bet youd like a smooth running engine. I dont know if your going to corner with this car, vut using a electronic fuel pump and a regulator will give you constant steady pressure.

I would call Blueprint and have them give you a part number for a flexplate. I'm not sure if the flexplate for a stock 1 piece rear main seal 350 will work or not. I can't find any mfg that lists a flexplate for a 1 pc RMS 383, they are all listed as externally balanced.
Also don't buy a Holley mechanical fuel pump, they almost always need a regulator added. I always liked the Edelbrock 1721 fuel pump. No regulator required and it uses 3/8" inlet and outlet ports. You don't need an electric fual pump, If you were building a racer then yeah but with the cast crank thats not likely. A mechanical pump with 110 gph fow will be more than adequate. Headers are a matter of choice, Flow techs are cheap and rust easily but fit ok. I have the Flowtech 11104FLT and my only real complaint is the passenger side collector runs down hill slightly. They are 1 5/8" primaries, on a budget they will work fine, for best performance you would want 1 3/4" primaries but the price goes way up and fit can be an issue. You will also need a fuel line kit to feed the carb like this, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-5951/overview/ . You can run rubber line between the pump and this or you can gen the necessary AN fittings and braided line. There are more fancy and pricey options as well. If you run rubber line then get a straight 3/8" npt to hose barb fitting for the fuel rail end and a 90* 3/8"npt to hose barb fitting for the fuel pump end. You may also need a new inlet fitting for the fuel pump depending on what you have now, the above pump has 3/8" npt ports so you'll need a second straight or 90* fitting like the ones above depending on the way you need to route the line.
