Help me identify this rearend

I just picked this up today, it came out of an Aerocoupe. It looks like it may be a 7.5 but I'm hoping it's an 8.5.

What you have there is a 7.5 rear end.
No Monte Carlo came with the 8.5 rear end.

Where should I look for an 8.5''?

If you are looking for an 8.5, look under Hurst Olds or 442's, or the Grand National. Other than that, I don't know about the Pontiacs.

Only the '84 Hurst/Olds has the 8.5.
The '83 has the 7.5.

10 bolt 8.5 rears

84-87 GN and 442 rears only and not all of them are even posi.

Pontiac and chevy only had the 7.5 and or 7 5/8 version and both were 26 spline axles.

We build custom 8.5 Chevy, 8.8 Ford, 8.875 12 bolt chevy rear housing and axle parts and complete rears ...
