Hi there, I've got a 1982 Cutlass with a 3.8 and a DualJet 210, I was hoping you all could help me Identify some of the stuff in these pictures, just click the pictures to enlarge
If you could help me Identify the marked Items and their purpose, that would be great:
Also, what goes in that hole, and what is it's purpose?

The bottom photo is where a hose/tube should plug in with a filter on the end inside of the air cleaner. The other end goes to a valve cover, supplying clean air into the crankcase. The PCV valve plugs into one of those hoses in the upper photo and pulls crankcase gases out through the other valve cover.

The choke arrow is the vacuum line for the choke pull off.
The line connected to that line is for the Thermac system in the air cleaner, the flapper door that closes during engine warm up. It opens after the engine is at normal operating temperature. There is a thermal vacuum switch in the air cleaner base that provides vacuum to the flapper door to open and close at certain temps or when you go wide open throttle.

I forgot what the arrow in blue is for. I haven't had to work on my carburetor for a long time. I think it's suppose to go to the thermal vacuum switch in the front of the intake that controls the EGR valve in the back of the intake.

Orange is the fuel line.

Brown arrow pointing down is the mixture control solenoid, LEAVE IT ALONE. Trust me. Also, why is there no harness connected to the carburetor? The black plug is for the air/fuel mixture control solenoid. It needs to be connected to the harness to work or the engine runs in limp mode. I think the other arrow is pointing toward bowl vents, I forgot since i haven't had my carburetor apart in a long time.

There is a hose connected to the carburetor, under the choke pull off vacuum line port , it goes to the PCV valve that is in the intake, behind the carburetor. The PCV valve pulls out with needle nose pliers and a little wiggling. The breather filter that goes in the hole in the air cleaner connects to a rubber elbow that connects to the passenger side valve cover. That rubber hose may be broken or missing.

Thanks, for all that. It's disconnected because the computer was removed years ago. I will eventually need a 78-80 Carb and distributor, but i'm trying to make do with what i've got for now. It'd be nice to gain some knowledge as well, so thanks. I know pretty much nothing about carburetors

Since your ECM was removed, your carb defaults to full rich all the time. There are springs on the rods that will keep them fully out of the jets. The ECM controlled those rods via a solenoid that would move them in and out of the jets as needed. The distributor also is not advancing ( unless you've replaced the distributor with one with a vacuum advance).

Yeah I did know about the Limp Mode and running full rich, at least it sounds cool for now!

Oh yeah, and there's this plugged hose as well

I'll check the vacuum hose diagram for my car and post the info later. I still have the emissions sticker and it has all that on it.
