Hey guys so I have a 87 cutlass supreme, it's a Y code, I have replaced the stock carb with a quadajet off a bbc, done some tweaking on the carb to get the bugs out of the carb, when I give it gas it revs up great but when it returns to ideal it seems like it wants to big out, am I missing something
being an 87 im assuming your computer is still in play?if it is you'll never get it tuned right without a ccc quadrajet,im not completely sure of the parameters but the ccc system needs the egr, carb, dist, coolant temp sensor as well as the o2 sensor in working order or it will just run like a dog.with a bbc quad you'll need to remove the computer completely and get an older style distributor to make it work but you'll need to keep the egr functional in your car so it doesnt ping.also thinking on it its probably all jetted wrong for your car with those tiny intake and exhaust ports might not even work right going computerless.your gonna need to either get a quad from another non computer 307 or return to the ccc system wit the original carb set up
If you have a vacuum advance distributor, it will work, if the carb is working right. Everyone complains about the power with the later swirl port 307's, peanut ports and 8 to 1 compression don't cut it, no matter what you do.
