1981 Malibu 500 HP lq4 410 gear trick springs 90/10 if 50/50 in rear solid uper and lower control arms car will ft break 1800rpms car ran 7.803 at 94 mph with a 60 ft time of 2.09 I think car should go 7.5-7.3 need help with 60 ft runing 28/9/15 slick

Is spinning or bogging? 7.3's will be easy with 94 mph trap speed if you fix the 60 ft.

How old are the slicks? What tire pressure?

If its spinning, you need to preload the right side. If its bogging you need more converter.

When my 2+2 still had the 150 hp 305 and 3.08 gears, it would do 2.1 60fts all day without spinning, never quicker, but 2.1, so that is the equivalent amount of HP your tires are seeing at launch and for the first 60 feet or so.

HP = Torque X RPM, and you need more RPM. Don't go overboard with a converter as it will kill the trap speed, but I would think 3000 rpm converter will get the car moving much quicker.

If you get a 4L80, get the one with the 2.97 first gear. Unless you have a T400 now, the 2.48 first gear will slow you down big time.

I am going to swap to a 4l80 but not in the budget yet so I was thinking for time being troughing a cheap 3500 converter in it u think it will help my 60 ft my converter flashes 2300 now
The larger stall will definitely help shoot you off the line and improve the 60ft, especially if the powerband on the cam is above what your current converter pulls at rpm wise.
My 60ft times years back was the same with a similar converter flash stall....I needed at least 3200-3500 to launch quicker. However I was running stock mushy suspension, garbage street radials and wheel hop while toying around on test n tune nights.

Which one is that, exactly?

TCI sells the gear set, not cheap, but what are you gonna do? The other option is a 4000 stall converter.

If the car currently has a TH350 and its bogging off the line, a 4L80 has a lower ratio 1st gear that will cause more bogging.
