Help with drive shaft length on 86 regal

Ok this is my problem i need the right length drive shaft that with fit in my 86 regal.this is what i have. Sbc 388 stroker with a th400 short tale shaft.the original shaft from the car got shorted to fit the old th350 that was in it so now i need a longer drive shaft to fit the 400 i swaped in .so can some of you help me with the right length shaft i need to fit the 400 i have now thanks rob

You also have to account for what rearend you have in place, as the 8.5 requires a one inch shorter driveshaft than the 7.5, a 9 inch is requires one almost two inches shorter than the 7.5.

Your best bet it to have they shop making the driveshaft measure it or have them advise you where to measure to and from.


Not trying to be a smart @$$, it will just save you so many hassles($140 around here for a new, heavy shaft). 383 and TH400 equals you leaning (beating, drag racing etc) on your equipment, get a nice driveshaft, one coming apart and or up in the car (with you) is exciting an expensive experience.
 
Thanks guys for the advice.i ended up putting the th350 back in cuz the 400 was not what i expected it to be.but i need to take it back out so i can put the stall speed in.i didn't think the stall speed in the th400 wouldn't fit but after asking around i found out it will fit right in the th350.on another note im going to swap out the rear with pois 4:10 gears this weekend
