Hey guys. I am planning on building a stroker motor with my two piece rear seal sbc. I am looking for help on choosing parts. I already have an edelbrock carb and weiland intake that I plan on using so I don't need suggestions on that. I am looking for heads, pistons, rods, cams, crank, springs. I have spent many hours researching different products but I want hear from you guys before I spend all my hard earned money. Which brings me to the next point. I am willing to spend cash for quality parts however I am not building a huge HP car so I'm not going to spend two grand on heads.

I am looking to make between four and five hundred HP maybe a little more as long as I can keep it somewhat street able. I also plan on adding a shot to it later on but nothing huge and not using a posi rear end. Also, if I just upgrade gears in a stock transmission will that be enough to see good results on the strip on weekends? Any help is appreciated and I will keep you guys posted with pics once the build starts in the spring.

PS: I have a th350 right now which will get swapped for a four-speed before the engine goes back in.

Sorry I meant upgrading gears in my rearend.

I got a forged rotating assembly from Speed-O-Motive for my blown 383, and it's been reliable for 6 years. Not the cheapest but they put together a quality kit and it all went together correctly. For heads take a look at the modified Vortec ones that can handle valve lifts up to .550" - they are not a lot of money but perform very well. You can easily hit your numbers with a 383 built like that. Let me know if you have questions.

Check out http://www.skipwhiteperformance.com they sell a real nice scat kit with forged pistons, balancer, flex plate, rods, etc etc....and they balance it all before shipping. They have the best prices on Scat kits that I could find.

Have you or anyone you know bought this kit.

I also need input on cam choice. Shooting for 10.1 or 11.1 compression.

I just bought a forged kit from them and the parts look amazing - Mine is identical to that kit except I got 6" rods and a 3.875 crank (for 396 cube). I have read alot on the scat 9000 cranks and for street and mild race use everyone seems to think they are the cats meow, and the price is unbeateable from them- I found some cheaper with the same basic parts, but they were not balanced assemblies. Also they only use forged pistons in their kits and the others were hpers or cast that were cheaper. Call them out there on cam choice - I spoke with them several times before buying and they seem to really know their stuff.

Would you recommend the same heads as DeltaT? And do you or Delta know a reliable place to grab a pair.

i went with an eagle rotating assembly and j&e pistons and elderbrock vr. jr. heads and i have a 588 lift cam thats a solid lift roller

Dont know what your budget is but i got a set of Chevy Bowtie angle plug heads casting #14011034 185cc intake runners 64cc chambers Heads have port work so they flow better then 185 but i dont have exact flow #s. Also have a set of harland sharp 1.5 full roller rockers along with a set of dart rocker stud girdles. looking to get $750 plus shipping or you can pickup if local.

These heads would be perfect for a 383. As far as cam i would call comp tell them your spects and what you plan to do and they will cut you a good one. Remember you will need a base circle cam.
my previous 383 had these heads and a518/536 solid lift cam 11 to 1 with a edl victor Jr and it went 11.79 in 1/4 on drag radial.

Hi i have used skipwhites 383 kit ,The crank i got was a eagle crank with full floating probe pistons and comp rods, with the flexplate ect and even comes with the balance sheet so if you lose a bearing i can get a rod to mach the rest of the rods ect. The gear is good for cheep gear along with the rods clearance for just about any cam u want.with the pro comp heads the combo it a true 10.7 to 1, The cam is a nice bump stick with .555 lift
