i know this is a GM forum but some one might know the problem:

i have an 89 ranger 2.3L dual spark plug motor manual trans

i went through a huge puddle then 5 mins later the truck stalled on me because the battery cables came loose. so i tighten them up again and it wont start. it will crank but it wont start.

there in no water in the oil and the air filter wasn't wet. and the spark plugs looked normal

any ideas?

thanks;

One guess is that it might have a flash memory EEPROM that lost it's memory when the cable was disconnected. I don't think Ford used that sort of system, but GM fell in love with it in the late 80's/early 90's. If you disconnect the battery on one of those cars without first connecting a supplementary power supply, the ECU loses it's program and it has to be reprogrammed by a dealer.

I cant count how many times i`ve done that.Probally got a wet cap and rotor.Pop the cap off and wipe it out or just let it sit for a while and the heat from the motor should dry it out.

No cap and rotor, just coil packs.

Brain fart.I should have known that.Most likely something ignition related i would think.
