I have. 229 Rear gearing in my car now ,how do i know what the highest gear size i can put in it is or do i need new carrier.how do i know im getting right one if im looking at used .want to go 373
Not sure what year / transmission is in your GP. fwiw if you have an old three speed non overdrive and need to stick with it for a while the 3.08 is ideal ie most of the acceleration yet still nice or the highway and decent mileage. If you are lucky enough to have the 200-4R than hellz yea a 3.73 will make the most of your acceleration and cruise hwy and get good mileage. But you would need an adapter to run that gear from where you are now. My guess is with a 2.29 you still have the three speed transmission.
Gutted the old engine was a 4.3 ,now 350 350 turbo 366 hp@5500,built trans .have a offer for a.7.5 loaded with posi and 373 for five hundred, but wanted to see if i coild do it cheeper cus i really want the 8.5. But dont have that kinda cash right now also its just a fun car not a.daily driver so i not that worried abot gas milage i want to go fast.lol
Gas mileage is a bonus an overdrive is a hugh improvement for a hot street / street strip kind of car. If you drive past the local stop lights and up on the highway I would look for a 3.08. If you go with the 3.73 a taller 28" tire will help make it more liveable. And you can also get a lock up converter with some th350 which would also help.
