I need help once again.. I got my megashifter in today and was wondering if I need to take the transmission out to install it.?

No you do not. Your just gonna have to mount it to the floor and drill a hole if there is not one already for the linkage cable.

You don't have to, but taking it out will make the installation a million times easier.

I should've asked, "Do you already have a floor shifter in your car?"

No I don't have one.. I'm installing one cuz my linkage cable hits the headers when I shift down to first?

I had that same problem. My dad installed mine w/o dropping the trans, but he said if he had to do it again he would've just dropped the trans. You've got to drill 5 holes. 4 holes to mount the shifter and 1 for the shift cable to go through. If you don't drop the trans, you have to be very careful not to drill into the trans itself. The 4 bolts that hold the shifter to the floor are a pain to get at to tighten it down as well with the trans still mounted. I had to remove my shifter by myself once w/o dropping the trans, so I definitely no how hard those 4 bolts are to get to.

Hmmm I must have got really lucky because mine went in very easy with the trans in. I only had a small problem with reaching the right rear mounting bolt from underneath to tighten the nut. Other than that it was a walk in the park.

I gotta wait to install in now cause my shifter didnt have the trans bracket so I had to call jegs back so they could send me another one..

 don't pull the transmission to do this its very easy, just take your time drilling holes. If the shifter comes with self tapping screws use bolts in place of them, use lock washers on both sides and have a buddy help one inside the car with ratchet one underneath with a wrench. cable and is bracket easy.

Okay I got my holes drilled and now need to know how big I need to drill my cable hole? And my brand new megashifter won't shift to first and second. Do I need to connect the cable first then will it work?

Big enough not to kink the cable. I would go out and get a rubber grommet like the size of a nickel or bigger. The cable will go out at an angle. so even if the hole is too big once you route the cable through, you size up the cable with tape to make it snug in the grommet, if you get what I'm saying.

Depending on whether your transmission is 3 or 4 speed, you can lock the Megashifter into either mode. You have to pull the ratchet out to shift into first or second. Also, you can only go back into park from D (3 or 4). It will work, you will just take a bit to get used to it.
