Was watching some videos on youtube and came across this. Its a t type with split bench leather pillow top, console, and granny shifter. What caught my eye was the console that appears to fit the split bench perfectly. Car looks mostly stock so I doubt they had it changed. I actually had to do a double take when I first seen it.

Hah. Damn I just seen the wagon at the end. WOW

i have only seen that on one other car and it was a base V6 in the junk yard :?

My guess is that it is a Regal Limited T Type. It's an odd combination, but it is conceivable as I have seen a few before. As for the console, that is the oddity here. The only Regal I have ever seen with a 40/40 bench is a Somerset. The console may be a custom piece, as even the E body El Dorado with the 40/40 bench did not have a console with an armrest. At least my mom's 81 didn't.

At any rate, I will post this for those who don't know. The Turbo drivetrain was an option on ANY Regal, not just a GN or T Type. A few base Regals with vinyl bench seats were even sold with the turbo 6 drivetrain. So, any configuration you can imagine for a 2 door Regal was available with that engine.

In the 80's that was the only real leather interior available in a Regal. It was called a 40/40 seat with a "non-operating console", available only on the Regal Limited or T-Type model. "Non-operating console" was Buick's generic term for a console without a shifter. Seat was the same style as the 60/40 Limited seat, but without the center section. I worked for a Buick-GMC dealer in the 80's and 90's. We sold about 1,000 Buicks a year at that time, but only a handful with leather, as the velour was much more popular. The T-Type was an unique car in that the option list was longer than any other Regal. You could order interior trim and exterior trim from either model, the base Regal or the Regal Limited. My '83 Regal company car had that very interior in a dark brown leather. Since there were no V8's available in the Regal at that time, I switched to 305 V8 Caballeros as my company cars when we acquired our GMC franchise later in '83. Went back to driving Regals in 86 when the Turbo started making some serious power.

i wish mine had that. its like having oversized buckets seats. People prefer buckets over bench but I am the other way around. The bench are just so comfortable. I have a friend who's dad has a somerset regal.(tan and blue interior)
