it's the secret to many years of happy marriage... I make sure she's happy, she doesn't nag! 😏 31 years and counting!

I don't entirely buy into that. I do what I want, some of it benefits her, some doesn't. If I don't make me somewhat happy then what's the point of all this?
It's about finding the edge of the cliff, and standing right on it with one leg hanging out LOL!!!! I've known my wife for 18+ years, married now for 9. Personally, I hung off the edge with one hand one too many times early on in marriage and made it rough.
Over the years we've grown, and now as long as I keep her happy, I do whatever I want! Luckily for me, she's pretty low maintenance so any OT I get in goes straight to the "cutty fund".
Yep, find the balance and all is good, 👍.

New Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I can tell what 39 dB doesn't sound like. Two hours to put the dishwasher in. Four hours to rebuild the rotten cabinet side particle board, from a past rotten garbage disposal that quietly squirted joy under the sink for years.

Will be married 17 years in June. It's great but takes work from both of us. Trying to make one side happy at the expense of the other doesn't work for us.

I came home from work on Thursday afternoon, sat down and checked/finished Natasha's tactics course work for an hour - while she fed the kids and I was coaching her on the course material, and then I left an hour later to go back to work while she prepped the kids for bed and then jumped on a 2 hour telecon for her course. I came home at 2300hrs and we discussed her course in the quiet moment we had.

By Friday afternoon I was training her *ss in the gym.

Marriage is very much give and take. It baffles people that we can work so closely together; we have neighbouring cubes in one of the buildings I work in. And it beats where we met - in a mosquito-filled swamp.

My point is by now all the normal handyman jobs are routine support for the household.
