Lower rad hose to water pump clamp. On an Olds engine, the A/C belt (or alternator belt depending if it has A/C or not) could come dangerously close to the hose. Obviously used for hose cut protection. It's not absolutely needed, but if there's too much deflection in the belt, the belt will make its own clearance on the hose which is normally considered undesirable. It will cut your hose when you're far from home and least expect it. Law of averages say so.So what is the purpose of that style? I have never seen one like that before.
Thanks, it seems easy enough to make a hose guard if the clamp is not availableLower rad hose to water pump clamp
As luck would have it, I have some available from my personal parts stash. Sure, it's nothing fancy. Just a stainless shield riveted to a hose clamp, but to just unscrew it and pop a new one on...easy peasy. No drilling or riveting necessary. Thanks, it seems easy enough to make a hose guard if the clamp is not available
You'll like the new shiny one better then. BTW, the one I'm sending you is by Murray "Gold Seal" made in USA according to the stamping on the screw thingie (that's an official term).I just like how it looks!!
