Does anyone know if they still make this hose clamp??

This one I have is a Tridon Made in Canada.

GM p/n 558565. They do not make them any longer. But I have several of them NOS. PM me if interested.

So what is the purpose of that style? I have never seen one like that before.

Lower rad hose to water pump clamp. On an Olds engine, the A/C belt (or alternator belt depending if it has A/C or not) could come dangerously close to the hose. Obviously used for hose cut protection. It's not absolutely needed, but if there's too much deflection in the belt, the belt will make its own clearance on the hose which is normally considered undesirable. It will cut your hose when you're far from home and least expect it. Law of averages say so.

Thanks, it seems easy enough to make a hose guard if the clamp is not available
As luck would have it, I have some available from my personal parts stash. Sure, it's nothing fancy. Just a stainless shield riveted to a hose clamp, but to just unscrew it and pop a new one on...easy peasy. No drilling or riveting necessary.

If you look carefully at Turna's pic, you can see what appears to be a slight bit of belt rub marks on the shield. It's a good little detail piece to have.

I just like how it looks!!

You'll like the new shiny one better then. BTW, the one I'm sending you is by Murray "Gold Seal" made in USA according to the stamping on the screw thingie (that's an official term).
