Guys, '78 bucket seat Monte Carlo needs new foam(think the seat covers are good and just need cleaning)... How hard is this to do ourselves not having done so before? Thoughts? Thanks

The pillowtop seats with power are annoying to work with but the vinyl seats anybody could do themselves basically. If you have the Brougham seats the shop would be a better choice. Some people also score seats from early 00's MC-SS which are black leather and bolt to the stock seat tracks locations in g-bodies too.

Yeah, pui directed me to a local dealer who sells high back gbody foam... I've read so many posts that seem to come to same conclusion-take it to the pro's after so many guys say it's a PITA and once you buy the stuff to do it, that the money to have it installed isn't that bad. Wanted to get some opinions here.

I just finished re doing a set and after seeing what's involved to do it right I'm glad I didn't attempt it myself. If you want the seats to look factory original, take them to a pro.

hahahaha. I was never going to come out and say I already made this mistake; but now that you guys have admitted it. I put a vinyl bench seat together once so I thought was Mr. Interior Design all the sudden. When I tried to stuff a Brougham seat the results were the exact opposite. No matter what I did it still looked like a bad art project from a kindergartner. After 2 hours I finally got it just right and started to walk away. Then to my horror I heard a noise. All the rods went taught and started shifting. A spring shattered. DOING! I smashed that seat into 100's of pieces when I turned around and saw a little metal rod poking through the seat cover. Hundreds of dollars worth of investment became worthless in mere seconds. Steve Austin mode commenced immediately.
