hoping you guys can help me get a round-about gesstimate flywheel hp on my "mutt" motor.

I traded into this thig a few years ago when it was in a 68 chevy p/u and scared the bejeezes out of me! just when I thought I knew what I had, I had to start ripping it apart from a snowballed upgrade, and found out I had better than I thought... I was told that it was a '67 corvette motor that had been warmed up, but now the guy I traded itfrom is kicking himself....

#'s reveal it's a '64 corvette block bored .040 over, with forged I-beam rods, and we think are Keith Black pistons... '65 corvette "double hump" heads with 2.02/1.60 valves & 64 cc (heads appear to be shaved as well)...
crankshaft # matches to a '67-68 truck crank(can't find the # I had written down to see what the throw was, but think it was the short throw crank)... I haven't gotten down to the camshaft yet, but did have a slightly lumpy idle... someone at some time has put alot of time/effort into this engine, but this is the 4th car the engine has been in that I know of...(engine was in a 68 camaro 2 owners ago, purchased at a drug seizure auction).

the slushbox transmission and axle need upgrading, so I'm not looking at hp at the wheels as of yet..., just curius as to what I might be looking at powerwise...(extremely restrictive exhaust in the regal to this point has choked the power out of it,hence the exhaust upgrade).

thanks in advance,
Darin

I'd say, guessing, between 300 and 400, if it hasen't been worn out too much.

well...., it has seen 8500 rpms with me, and was told by the guy who bought it at the auction, that he had it tached to 10k.... he agreed with me when I told him I never felt any vibrations or unususal noises in it....

I am going through the bearings just to refresh them while I have it out... rings/compression is solid, so I'm not pulling the pistons out, and the cylinder walls are near perfect, so I don't think the motor has more than 5-10k miles on it... oil pressure drops to almost nothing when warm(thinking cam bearings) and just a quick look at the rear main bearing while changing the seal reveals what looks like some dry starts on the bearing...

Being a 327 is doesn't have size going for it, but they sure will rev. That's what they are known for.

You need more info, like CR, cam specs, intake, headers, etc. The old camel hump heads flow OK, but not by modern standards.

My keyboard dyno says....... 330 HP & 315 Lb Ft of torque.
