So, okay, maybe a trick of the light or camera position but why does it look like the steering wheel is bent, almost as if the driver had been pounding on it in frustration due to the moron ahead of him/her either dogging it or due to being late??

I think it is just the lighting
 
Years ago Carlisle Customs in Carlisle PA had one of those for sale that needed completion. I saw the car before they started. It was a little rough. Door bottoms and the A pillars had some rot. They closed in the sides and made it a panel. Not my taste but it eventually sold.
