okay... I have a pile of speaker ready to go in my '80... but I want to run them off an amp...

I have... 2 3.5's in the stock holes in the dash
2 6 1/2's in Q Logic Kick Panels
2 6 1/2's above the rear arm rests
2 5 1/4's in the center of the dash
4 6x9's in the package tray

All of them are JL coaxials.....

so my question is.... what should I do for amps?? at first I only planned on 8 speakers and I was going to run them off 1 4 channel amp.. but now with 12, I need to rethink it.. Any ideas? The amp I have is a Crunch 900.4 (got it and a Crunch 1500.1 for doing a friends brakes... both brand new) should I get another amp? or 2?

I have seen guys run the 2-3.5 to the radio and the rest to a 4 channel amp you might need a amp with a little more power you just wire the speakers in pairs to make it work with a 4 channel amp from the stuff I've seen if you didn't want to run more amps.

Ok here's what you do. You need a 4 channel amp that is 2ohm stable. that way you can run 2 4ohm speakers on each channel. You have JL speakers so I suggest using a JL 300//4. they are stable down to 1.5ohms. You should be able to run your system with no problem. I did car audio professionally for years. I have a lot of experience with these amps. I'm turning my 86 Cutlass into a show car. I have 5 JL Audio amps and 32 speakers. Good luck. feel free to PM me with any questions.

cool, I know where to get a JL 300.4 too!, love JL amps.. But there are 4 speakers left if I run 2 on each channel.. would you just run 'em off the deck? (i'm thinkin' the 3.5's and the 5 1/4's)

There'd be 4 6x9s and 4 6.5's on the amp...

Thats an option but they might be over powered by the other speakers on the amp. You may want to run 2 amps for your system. Or 3 if you gonna run subwoofers, which I suggest.

The subs are already figured out... 2 12" DC Audio Lvl 3's, and a DC Amp... (helps knowing a DC rep)

My head unit is an Alpine CDE-126BT... and they've got a power pack to boost it's power up to 45watts rmsx4.. wonder if that would work?

Another amp is an option too..

if you're running 2 subs 2 amps is the best way to do it. also if you want the best quality sound buy a battery just for the subs. run a positive wire to the engine battery and ground anywhere you can find in the trunk. takes less distance to get from battery to sub and will sound great.

The subs I have figured out.. that's easy.. 2 DC Audio 12's, and my new Audioque 2200.d Amp.. the extra battery is under the hood though (got a battery set up off a diesel monte). I've got 2 big Kinetic batteries waiting to go in...

And I think I have the speakers figured out..

2 JL 350.4 Amps,

4 6x9's on one amp
4 6 1/2's on the other

the 3.5's and the 5 1/4's in the dash get hooked to the head unit, with Alpine's add on amp.. or "booster"
