Hey everyone im new to the forums and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove all my air conditioning stuff from a 78 cutlass supreme. it didnt have a compressor and it was drained so I started taking out bolts but im stuck. Any help is appreciated, thanks

It helps to remove the inner fender. I had to, plus you might have to remove some screws behind the glove box that are attached to the hvac unit.

85GPLef41 is right, and your going to have to take the dash out. There's the air vents ,and a metal bar that's a dash mount.

Here is a picture. u can see the bar

Well i dont have the glovebox in or a radio and i can see the bar. So do i remove the bar? Will i still need to remove my dash? Does the dash come out very easily? Which screws are attached to the hvac unit? Sorry for all the questions but im pretty noobish.

Yes, you will. See how the bar runs all the way up and behind the air duc's. You will need to take those off too.

In order to take the dash out, you will have to take your gauge cluster out first.

Then there's the actual dash screws witch or on top by the vents, 2 at each end of the dash, and the bar we talked about.

Then there is the Colum screws witch sandwich the dash metal brace. Loosen that up, and pull the dash a little (not all the way!!)

Then there are some sensors that are behind the dash, just beneath the light switch. Now that you pulled the dash out a bit, this will give you more room to unhook those sensors. Once that's done your home free.

I cant get behind the gauge part of the dash to unhook the stuff. Its only hung up on the left side of the piece and I can't figure out how to do it. Do i need to disconnect the speedo cable from under the car? Ill try to post pics but my camera is being dumb.
