Hey there. Long time G body owner but new to the forum.

Currently have two:
1987 El Camino - 4.3 EFI / full gauges / bucket seat interior / very well optioned. Fair shape - mostly just a go getter truck.

1978 Malibu:
Very long term project/toy. Some surface rust but solid frame.
Home built 383 small block with Holley EFI, LS coil conversion, true Lingenfelter Super Ram manifold. Probably around 450 crank hp.
T56 Magnum & G/N rear.
Pro-touring style suspension - Baer brakes, AFX spindles, coil-overs, etc.

The Malibu is a blast to drive. Well, used to be anyway. That is until a tree fell on my garage and buggered it up pretty good. Now I have to decide what to do with it. Some options:

1) Try to fix the roof. Not sure how successful this would be.
2) Try to find a roof panel cut-off and weld it in. (1 & 2 would need front & rear glass as well)
3) Strip it for all the parts and try to find another Malibu. Maybe a wagon this time. Not sure I can afford this option now that I'm retired though. Sigh...

What say you all? :-O

Time to do a custom Malibu T-top roof.

Welcome aboard! It's a bummer about the roof, but repairable of course. Having the roof shipped across the state might not be as difficult as you think. It might just be a matter of hooking up with someone driving thru with a truck, or one of those Uship deals. At any rate, good luck!
