I have a 1984 hurst cutlass with the lightning rod shifters, I have a few mods planned for it but was wondering will the shifters work with any trannies besides the 200r4?

guess it could be made to work with the 700-r4 but why? There are 3 speed Lightning Rods for trans such as the th350 but again IMHO, that is a backwards step. The 200-4r can be built to handle just about ANY power a street car will make. Plenty of sub-10 sec. GNs around to prove it.
