I made a trip to a JY around the corner yesterday and saw several Astro vans with hydroboost. I'm kicking around the idea of swapping to this system instead. I did a little searching online for what this swap entails and there's bits and pieces of info that I can't find.

Bolting the unit to the firewall, running the lines, bleeding & priming is a no brainer. What I want to know is if the rod and clevice bolt directly to the brake pedal on g-bodies or do I need to modify anything to make it work.

I know Hydratech makes a bolt on kit. I'm not ready to shell out $650+ for that though. I know the 84-85 turbo Buicks came with them, but those boosters are out-dated and I want something more modern.

if you want to add pros or cons feel free. I'm still gauging if it's worth the trouble or not. It's not really a necessity, but who doesn't want more space under the hood and a better brake feel?

There was just an article in Car Craft a month or two ago about this swap.

If you can wade through the pop-ups, you can read it on their site...

I hope to be able to tell you soon, I am planning on retrofitting Astro van hydroboost in my '85 SS and in my buddy's '79 Z28.

I have all of the parts in storage, lines, etc.

His will be a pain due to the SAE lines on the box and pump.

Wonder if there's a metric box and pump I can swap into the Z? Different forum, different day, lol.
