I have both ash tray covers in regular aluminum and hurst olds engraved. Now I dont have an actual Hurst Olds but will have some of the similarities as in the shifters....already and have an actual wing and hood scoop that will be installed at paint time.

so what are the thoughts? Showing respect? Or being cheesy?

Hard to say. I mean if people can get away with putting "SS" on anything Chevy, I'm sure you can get away with putting "H/O" behind some lightning rods. If you like it, keep it.

yes i hate seeing people with caprice ss badges and still have the full rear triangle windows or worse the wheel skirt on a 91 and they say its an impala but if your asking i think it looks nice and if i said other wise who cares its your car

Looks bad *ss! Don't change it up man

Alright I put the Hurst ones on and I feel the same, it looks good and presents well.

I think the H/O looks good since you do have the lightning rods anyway, if anything people might just think you got the whole console /shifter assembly out of a Hurst and it's not like your sticking H/O stickers on the outside of your car and claiming that's what it is.
Around here I have also seen the caprices with the quarter skirts, probably 30"+ rims and 12" tall chrome letters across both doors saying Impala SS, now that's a what I call cheesy.

I think the HO plate looks good and will always look better and more tasteful than somebody who wants to make their car look like its fast when they add the aftermarket (AZ junk aisle) Grand National knock-off chrome stick on, for the front fender air vents.

yeah straight aluminum is just clean as hell..and it matches the rest of the plating...and it's not a hurst. but if that's your taste then roll with it...me personally i don't like 'clones' and SS emblems on EVERYTHING... just redo that suspension, rearend and that motor/transmission in any cutty/regal/monte and you'll have more than a grand national, hurst, or ss...
