I have an edelbrock carb on my 350 with a 700r4. Transmission worked perfectly fine before i had been using the kickdown slot on the carb with no issues for weeks now. Shift points were firm and accurate but it only kicked down into passing gear when it wanted too.
So i was told i had to buy the edelbrock geometry corrector bracket i bought it got it here put it on just like the instructions say too but now if i floor it from a dead stop it goes right into overdrive and stays there. But take off smooth 1st to 2nd at about 20mph and my firm shift is gone too
People told me to get this bracket even though the thing was working fine before its the proper one but so far its a worthless $30 peice of metal
I hold the gas to the floor i press the button i hear click click i see the linkage move but its not right
PLEASE HELP!

Explain this. I can't even fathom the trans starting in OD from a dead stop if you floor it. In fact, that just seems impossible.

Now once you installed your bracket you set your TV cable ( it's not called a kickdown cable!!!! ) right?

And don't drive it too much until you get it adjusted right. This is important. It was important before you installed the geometry corrector too... If it's not set up right, you can definitely damage the transmission. I don't have a ton of knowledge on this, but the TV, unlike kickdown on say a TH350, is tied in with line pressure, and if it's not adjusted right, it will allow for slippage and you can burn things up. You say you need "help fast", this is a situation along the lines of seeing that you have zero oil pressure...time to stop and do it right or you're going to be spending a lot of money very soon.

sounds like you have the cable WAY TOO TIGHT... i know when mine was tight on my 200-4R, on light acceleration it would run through the gears and very soft shifts, hard acceleration, it would run through first a little bit then barely touch the other gears and be in OD by like 20-25 MPH... not sure if you have a push button or pull button on your tv cable, but either way, when adjusting, DO NOT USE YOUR GAS PEDAL AS WOT... cables tend to stretch and most never reach full WOT... always adjust by the carb... also, depending on age of your tv cable they tend to not adjust properly after a while, cheap plastic ribs get worn... assuming you have a push button tv cable adjuster, in park, car off, push button and slide sleeve all the way in, turn carb to WOT and its adjusted... i just went through the same crap with my cable and learned ALOT from other members and research on the net...

Ok i took a look at it this morning and it had a TON of slop. I pressed the button and moved the linkage all the way in then i held the button down untill it could reach the linkage on the carb i let go. Then i used the linkage on the carb and moved it to WOT then i let go. I did a road test and it seems ALOT better its working almost the way i think it should. At part throttle it shifts from 1st to 2nd at about 25mph and its alittle firm no not neck breaking. It seems to shift a tiny bit late but not by much and if i step down to WOT it downshifts just like it should so i feel alot better about driving it now i think i might take it to a shop on tuesday just to be safe but atleast now im not afraid of burning up my trans. This was my first 700r4 so i never did this before but now i think i got it down

glad to hear you got it squared away... its DEFINETLY a scarey feeling thinking you might be killing your trans...

Yea im glad its takin care of. I took it to go get breakfast this morning and it did fine so if it hasnt blown up yet then hopefully it wont at all lol
