Swapped out for a 383 sbc with a 700R4 in my Buick Wagon. I'll post up some pics of my progress so far in another thread. It isn't anything that hasn't been done before though lol.

For the Torque Converter lockup, I was going to put a switch in, but I realized that Fords and some Dodge trucks have a toggle button in the column shifter... would that be possible to use for a TC lockup switch?

The Buick Lesabre I bought and stole the drivetrain out of had a 350C trans and they had it hooked up to a 12 volt toggle switch mounted in the dash with a big red light that came on when the convertor was locked up. It worked very well and I was going to use this set up but my project car came with a perfect shifting 200r4 so I will be using that instead.

Yeah, that's another option, but if I can save space on the dash by locating the toggle button to the column shifter, that would be ideal... of course a light may still need to be put on the dash or somewhere so I know whether or not it's engaged.

If you are trying to put a switch on the end of your column shifter handle I am sure it could be done using a pushbutton on/off switch depending how big the handle end is or you could mount one to your steering wheel somewhere but you would need to use a coil cord for that.

Not to drag up an old topic, but I am... Switch on the shifter shouldn't be too hard. 90's Subaru's and even the new crap Nissan at work have a push button on the side of the shifter (all automatics I should say) for disengaging the overdrive. Something like that could be redirected to your converter. And an indicator on the dash should be easy to wire up. Just a light up indicator that is in series with your converter button. If it's got power going through it to lock it up, the light is on.
Just a thought. I'm no mechanic or electrician.
