I've spent the last couple weeks attempting to investigate certain production info about my 442, such as how many models were built identical to mine, or had similar options. I tried to register over at ROP, but no one ever allowed my account to be active :wtf: Maybe I'm not cool enough yet, I don't know. I had intended to post my questions here also with the hope of some good info:

My '87 442 is dark teal blue with a blue interior. Its equipped with PL, PW, AC, tilt, cruise, rallye gauges, buckets, console - pretty standard stuff on the 442. I also have the astroroof option. My car is the only one I've ever seen in person with this option, but I'm quite aware others exist. I've been trying to find out 1. how many cars were built with the astroroof, and 2. how many were built and painted dark teal blue, and 3. how many were dark teal blue with the astroroof?

I know that 4,208 442's were produced overall in '87, but that's as much info as I could find. If someone has solid info on production numbers, I would greatly appreciate it! My RPO sticker in the trunk is in great shape, and if needed I can email a pic of it.

Thanks!!!!

Try registering on http://www.oldspower.com/vb/index.php

If no one can help you here, there should be some people who can help you there. Honestly, I do not think there is any place to get the specific info you want, but you may be able to get some of it, I am not positive of this though.

Thanks!! This is just the kind of lead I've been looking for, I think I'll call right away in the morning before I go to work!

I called the 800 today and got some info. Over the phone they could only verify that 4208 442s were produced in '87 (which I knew). Then the lady gave me a website - www.gmmediaarchive.com which handles the resto packets for $50. They also can get you a reporduction copy of your vehicle invoice, window sticker, and some cadillac only build sheets.

Thanks again for all the help!!!

While attending Automotion in WI Dells this last weekend, I seen another 87 442 that was is in showroom condition and also equipped with the astroroof. The owner of that vehicle tells me only 501 87 442s were built with this option. I'm going to investigate this further, but the guy seemed like a solid source. He was also a member of the WI Olds club (?) I'm not positive that was the name, but he had a club decal in his 1/4 window.

On a side note, there were two nice 83 Hurst Olds there in black, a couple salon's, the 442 mentioned above, and 86 442, and my 87 442.

Teal 442's

Do you by chance know how many TEAL 442's were built? Was 87 the only year? I currently own an 87 Buick Grand National and am starting a family. I know for a fact that I would like to build an 87 442 in the Teal color with my son. I would just like to have that information in case I need to start looking now. Ideally, the perfect find for me would be a rolling rust free 442 chassis in the Teal, but I am sure I will just have to buy a running one and pull the motor. Anyone have any leads or ideas?

I'm actually trying to get the exact # of dark teal blue 87's with astroroof's. I've got some contacts at GM investigating the production numbers for me.

Unfortunately information like this is not available for G-body cars, GM doesn't even know and in fact since they never kept a solid database of how many of what with what was built. To get a solid number of how many were built with T-tops, sun roofs, color paint, color interior is near impossible without going through and compiling every build sheet. I believe the only info they would have is t-tops, sun roofs, hard tops, VIN Y and VIN 9. As for color combo's and options, no chance.

There are some that will tell you 253 83 H/O's had Sand Gray interiors, and 400 85 442's were only white, that information is non-existing and is only a guess. Realistically it's more along the lines of 600+ 83 H/O's with Sand Gray interiors and about 500+ 85 442's that were white. Yes there were little built but a solid number doesn't exist unless GM who is going bankrupt dumps money into compiling this information...
Personally I know of 6 white 85 442's within a 10 mile radius of me... what are the odds of that and what does that tell you...
