Ok well for starters im glad to say im going to finally start working on my G Body and for any of you that help me thru this process Thanks in advance..

The Car is an 85 Monte Carlo LS Bronze with Tan Top and Orange and Silver Pinstripes I have never seen another one like it... Its Almost Stock with the 305 and TH 200 Trans and Stock RR and Suspension the only thing I have done is remove the smog pump and Emission Lines and pulg up the holes in the Manifolds and remove the Cats and run true Duals and Glasspacks so now is where its going to get fun...

The Project...

I want to Go totally Frame off with this thing its been in the Family since it was new and I have had it for about 11 Years now and I Finally have a job and a GF that will support me with this project so here is my plan
I want something I can drive on a daily basis but still have some fun so Im looking at a

EFI Smedding Motor and Trans Setup 370HP and 430lbs of Tq
Currie Enterprises Ford 9in RR
Ride Tech E3 Suspension
Dakota Digital Dash

So now I need to know what everyone else thinks of this project and what kind of problems I might run into..
I Am so far undecided on if I want to do a SS Conversion because well its tough to find a Full SS Interior with Center Console
and Steering Colum and what not. So I am thinking I might Paint it the same Ugly colors it is now and then just Have all the interior re done... I have yet to find all the weather stripping and all the chrome trim that came on the LS and I am having problems finding it thats what is swaying me to do the SS nose and do the SS exterior trim So any Input would be great so i can start buying parts and getting thigs ready so i can start this in the next year since its a big project...

Hey man welcome to the site glad to have u. and that sounds like an awsome project id love to see it. as for wanting the ss interior my opinion is maybe look around for a parts car thats an ss lol if u can find one in good shape. it sounds like u got a nice color scheme goin on ur paint job i say go for it. Building a car is all and only about what u wanna do and u only others can give there opinion on what u should do but its only about what u like. The motor and transmission sound like a good combo. digital dash sounds cool i say go for it

Well I konw Motor and Trans is my Preferance but Has anyone ever Ran a Smedding Motor and trans before and what kinda things have you heard about them...

Things I am kinda looking to find out is what kinda gears work best in a car like that I was thinking like a 3.70 but Im not the best when it comes to picking gears.. I want to have it streetable and drive it often and be able to run down the Highway and In town I want a good take off but want to be able to put the power to the ground instead of buying new tires all the time..

Should I be looking into doing any Frame Bracing?

What kinda tires can i put under it on say an 18' Rim although I might stick with a classic 15 I just need to make sure with air ride i can sit it down for shows and what not and not rip my fenders off..

Anyone Know where to get the "Chrome" trim that goes on the front bumper and rear bumper and along the doors kinda like a bumper deal... ?

Best Place to get Glass and Weather Stripping...

What are some of the Most comon problems with theese cars and what are somethings I should be thinking about and looking for in this project...

I dont know alot about smedding motor ive never ran one personally but cruise nights where i live a few guys have him they sound like they idle good and when they leave they have no problem gettin the tires lit but i dont know.
as for gear ratios i run 2.58s or 2.62s i dont remember but that high gearing is great for gas milage but u wont hit your powerband untill about 2500 rpm now 4.11s is good low gearing and will launch u down the drag strip the speed of light but ur gas milage will be in the tiolet so id find a good middle ground. this summer im puttin in a 3.48 rear end and maybe thats what u should look into so u can pretty much have close to the best of both worlds gas milage and power.
Frame bracing is completly up to u. people say u gotta do it but i just repaired the rust on mine and put it together and im pushin close if not over 400 horse power and mine aint warped yet lol
I have air ride in the back of mileybu if i put it all the way down they rub big time and ive got 295/50s in the back but thats somthin u gotta look at on ur own when its together 🙂
Chrome trim look at a website called dixiemontecarlodepot.com. i bought headlight bezels and a grill from them and they have a big selection of parts for montes malibus el caminos regals cuttlass u name it so thats a good place to look
The biggest problem ive came across building mileybu is that everything is a tight fit. my wiper arms almost touch my coil on the distributor and i cant even fit my hand on the passenger side to tightin up a header bolt thats loose lol but just take ur time and be patient dont rush or more mistakes and problems will arise trust me
