I have a VIN 9 307 out of a 1987 442. I am wondering what your thoughts on value are. It had a slight knock in the lower end but did start up and run. I don't have the space to keep it so I'm trying to decide if I should junk it.
If you still have the 442 that it came with, then yes there is some value when sold with the car. I would say maybe $100 due to the knock. List it and see what you get. The hotter roller cam, stiffer valve springs and real harmonic balancer balancer are about the only special items. The Vin 9 carb, if original being 800 cfm and a richer calibration, worth more than the whole motor.
X2 on the carb. I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but me personally, I'd strip it for the carb and accessories, and scrap the rest and not lose any sleep over it.
