I am sure I have posted this before, but I'll post it again for anyone who has never seen it. What amazes me is that these people are walking around inside the reactor containment building knowing the danger. At one point, you can even see the melted reactor core where it came out of a large pipe. This is not a political statement by me, just a video I found interesting and I thought others would enjoy it too.

I think it was in German, but am not sure. There are other videos out there and I think some are in English, or at least have subtitles. For me though, the pictures speak for themselves.

why? it's been 20+yrs, most of the radiation left is neutron, and that'd be pretty low level. (relatively anyway 🙂) and it's not like they're not wearing suits.

i still wouldn't be seen in there.

did anyone else watch any of the related videos?

some of that ghost town stuff was pretty trippy!

Well, even after 20 years I would think it is still highly radioactive as the half life of the fuel is far longer than that. Plus, the radiation in some of the buildings is still very dangerous to this day, and the produce is still radioactive.

Yeah I don't think id even go to that area, let alone ground zero of that area.
They had this thing on hbo where they were testing the homes miles and miles away and they were even radioactive.

i wouldn't go there without a suit, but the footprint (the radioactive slag from the core) is now a couple hundred feet down and IIRC covered with concrete. the rest is secondary radiation which goes away alot quicker.

The disturbing thing is that the core is not covered in concrete in this video They actually filmed the melted core. Plus, the containment structure is failing and leaks water. Supposedly they are working on a more permanent solution to the issue of containment right now though.
