So, I received the newest Monte Carlo parts manual from OPG. I started drooling over the massive array of parts that are available. Until, I remembered that I own an Olds. OPG doesn't publish a parts manual for Olds Gbodies, so all I can do is look and wonder what parts might fit my Olds. Is there manual that identifies which parts are interchangeable on Gbodies and where can I purchase one? Thanks for the help.

No. No interchange book that's simple to use. Off the top of my head, some things that do interchange....

Assuming same year car, MOST frame/suspension/body bushings and hardware. Specifics might be different, like sway bar size, etc., but stuff like brake line clamps, steering components (pretty much everything but the steering wheel is the same). Rear end from your 442 is an 8.5, Montes didn't have that. But the springs and brake lines and junk would interchange. Lessee......gas tanks I think, and front rotors/brakes....headliner stuff, all the T-top hardware and T-top gaskets. Side window seals. Unfortunately door seals and window felts aren't the same. Carpet interchanges, seats, lower door panels, underdash kick panels, A and B pillar moldings, (but the rear quarter windows and inner quarter window plastic panels do not interchange) and door arm rests, headliner/sunvisors interchange. Windshields and rear window (non Aero).

Under the hood, the engines are totally different. I think distributor rotor and cap interchange. 🙂 Booster and M/C, A/C housing and firewall crap, all the windshield wiper components. The A/C system is set up differently because CHEVY PUT THE BATTERY AND STARTER ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ENGINE so the alternator and A/C compressor swapped sides. 🙂

That's just some stuff and I'm not even concentrating on it.

Thanks. That's a little more than I knew yesterday. I often wondered if the seats and railing swapped, so know I know that much.

69hurstolds just gave you plenty of examples, but If you have anything specific, just ask...

Thanks for the advice. The seats and inner door panels were the big questions. I have an 87, and finding exact color, cloth, and design is tough without paying an arm and a leg. I might just give up on originality and go for what blends with the current color. It may not look original, but at least it won't have cigarette ash burns in it.

The interior colors are the same for all the cars per production year. The only isue would be matching the fabric pattern. So you know GM got lazy so basicly all '85-'87/'88 used the same colors.
This is truth. And just to clarify, the Monte buckets are a little different physically than the 442 buckets, but if you stole Monte buckets and back seat of the same year/color and put them in your car, they would bolt in. Color-wise Claret is Claret, Dark Blue is Dark Blue, etc.

I forgot about Olds kept using the Strato buckets for the whole generation run as Chevy went to the euro type buckets when they reintroduced them in '85.

That simplifies a lot of my decision making. I could get front buckets and rear seat cushions and cloth, and replace my current ones. As long as the color blends with my current interior color, it will appear as if it came with the car and also be new/unworn. It will be modified, but my car already has other mods.

What color interior do you have? You would be miles ahead getting new seat foam and cloth for the Olds instead of the Monte. Not sure it would work. It might, but it's seems like it'd be a lot of work. I'd talk to an upholstery shop about that first.
