I'm looking for help to remove a partially loose piece of trim - located above the back window, 86 Monte Carlo. At the rear corner where it meets the plastic side panel it does not fit flat and is dented. The plan is to re and re the piece(I'm sure it's metal) remove the denting and touch up the paint. I have tried to remove it using the same technique as the trim at the top of the door frame.
If someone could point me to the trick or tool it would be appreciated. If a special tool is needed I could probably make one if shown a picture.
It looks like there had been a back window leak and someone tried to seal it from the inside, I guess.
Thanks
Ed

In all my years working on Gbodies I have not managed to get either the front or rear trim down without breaking the clips. That being said replacements are cheap"ish". I drove my car for a couple years with just the Philips screws holding the trim on at the back after I did my headliner

Also Burls Creek is this weekend. There is always 1 or 2 trim and clip guys there but it wont be much cheaper

Otherwise I bought the full front and rear set from Mikes a couple years back

Thanks for the info.
Now I'm waiting for Dave(85442/86buick) to chime in and suggest to use drywall screws. j/k Dave🙂
