Hello once again. I'm removing my interior to seek out all hidden rust spots. I have not yet got a parts or body book (will when I can Find). I would like to know if someone knows how to remove the metal panels just above the driver and passenger. They are whats keeping the front a pillar in place. I can't remove without breaking the plastic. Anyone else here remove these panels? Please Help. Btw in another subject anyone wanting to fix up there regal/t/gn/gnx. I recommend removing the roof panel and the panel just below the rear window and checking it out. Unless your car has never been outdoors there is a possibility that these areas are heavily rusted. Just fyi. and Thank You in advance for anyone who can help me with this.

I was wondering the same about those metal pieces because I need to remove mine also. I'll check my manual.

My manual says this:

"Grasp molding and pull down while rotating molding inboard to disengage from headlining retaining clips."

I have no clue what it means. Probably a good idea to practice at a junkyard so you don't break something.

Hey thanks for the fast reply. Let me translate just firmly pull down and push inward. I did go to ecology today just to figure that out(I found a treasure of hardware I needed). And yes it pops right off with ease. Just be careful those metal panels are very sharp on the edges. Oh and no need to muscle it or the metal will bend. 😀

Sometimes if you get lucky you can slide them foward instead of possibly breaking those plastic clips. However that was with the a-pillars pretty much rotted away so I didn't care about taking those out.

Oh if anyone has not yet removed the front metal panel just above the rear view mirror, remove with caution(also it would be a good idea to remove the mirror just in case). I was trying to remove it yesterday pressing all the release taps on those little black clips but for some reason it didn't want to let go. It wasn't till after I broke the tab on one of the clips that I realized that the very front edge of the panel is held down by a black rubbery adhesive material. After just gently peeling away with a flat blade tip it fell off with ease. Now the search is on for a new clip. :x

That just means that somebody replaced the windshield and some extra glue pushed out.

IMO it's nearly impossible to take those out without breaking the clips. Mikes Montes sells them I had to replace every single one when I did my interior.

I recommend you raid all the junk yards near you weekly. You never know what you might find. And as it turns out some places only have the cars out for a week then they junk them. I used to think that the cars just stayed there until everything was gone completely. 😀
