is this caused by a stuck thermostat?

what causes a upper rad hose to partially collapse in on itself?

what are the circumstances?

the vehicle says its running just under 100 when warm, never overheated or does it give any indication its going to. popped the lid open to play with my timing and noticed not only does it not have pressure, but its slightly collapsed. took the rad cap off and its completely full. real good heat. last time i topped it up i ran it with the cap off for a good 10 minutes to let any air out, but it only needed maybe a 1/4 litre. was there anything specific you need to know?

your temp gauge is broken if its Farenheit

i don't like that it doesn't have pressure at temp. so first i'd get a new radiator cap and see what happens. (i usually don't throw parts at a car, but the cap is cheap and easy)
then see what the temp does. check it with an IR probe too. check the head, radiator, and wherever you can get a good reading.

a defective radiator cap?
Is that the cause of all the problems? Doubt it, but you always fix the easy stuff first and see what happens. Plus pressure would keep the hose expanded. The fact that there's no pressure and a collapsed hose...

thanx, ill grab one in the next day or so and let yah know what happens.
