I started to watch these vids about a year ago and decided the G Body ain't for me.

That's Hutch. Yes, he is a member here. Why would the video dissuade you from owning a G body?
I saw the amount of work required to restore the chassis from the rust damage. Especially the #6 and 7 mounts. I (incorrectly) assumed it would be almost impossible to find an affordable G Body here in the Toronto/southern Ontario area that had not been subjected to the ravages of rusting.
I bought and partially restored an '89 GMC truck that had seen 12 winters and almost every bolt was a struggle. At that point I swore I would never own old American iron again.😉

You've seen the pictures of the SS I found....nuff said. What surprised me when I searched for a decent body was that the were cars that had not been driven in winter.

Well you took your time searching and didn't fall in love with the first one you saw so you ended up with a really nice example, there are clean unmolested originals out there but typically you have to pay the price to get one.

You have to hunt to find rust free cars. It can be done, but not here in the rustbelt, and probably not in Canada either unless yiou stumble onto a garage kept, summer only driven car. They are out there, but harder to find. Whenever we look at anything to buy I spend more than hour checking it out to see if I'm interested in repairing what's wrong with it - rust included.

What your describing is something new that you want to bolt on parts to, i.e, newer Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, etc. but the issue with them is the entry level price.

All comes down to what you want and what your willing to do. Personally I enjoy making repair/upgrades. Our current car I had to change all the body bushings and weld in new tail sections on both frame rails. Sounds like a big job, but other than waiting/gathering parts it took a weekend (15-20 hours).
 
I got lucky and found a unmolested survivor in Manitoba no rust very clean but i looked for 10 years before i found one and paid almost 7 grand for the car last year so very few and far between
 
I am in the Kitchener Waterloo area and finding a clean gbody is a hit and miss. I found my shell from down south and my frame came from Conrad who made the replacement rails for these cars I was very lucky to have that opportunity. But if you do want to find a clean gbody you have to keep you eyes peeled around this time since they are all going into storage and a lot of people are wanting to unload them
