I never had to "fix" one so not sure if it can be.

If it is what is it even called?

backing plate clip?

I don't believe you can get just the clip. It is made into the cable assembly. Replace the whole cable.
But I have seen where guys will use a small hose clamp and tighten it on there to keep it in place. When setting the parking brake, the heavy pressure comes from the outside and the clip just holds it in place when released..timo22

I believe there is supposed to be 3 tangs. You might undo the hose clamp and slide it through the tangs you have left. Seems like it would stay on better. Did you try and use a hose clamp when removing it? That's how I take them off. timo22

I bought 3 new park brake cables for the Monte (believe it or not, the stock ones work with my rear disc set up) cause they were kinda rusty, you know, same as your Long Island rust from Rockauto, about 14 bucks a pop.

Yep I use a hose clamp as well.

Was taking the ebrake off the Monte trying to make a swap a little easy when I noticed someone before me already broke it.
