I don't know all the fact pertinent to the story, but it looks like he's blown it this time. But Top Gear will go on, the BBC would be shooting itself in the foot to kill of its biggest revenue generator.

Roger.

I won't really miss him. His arrogance is overwhelming. Richard and James I like. Maybe Jeremy was being reprimanded for his constant trash talking of Lexus and the fact he does everything possible to make each Lexus he drives look like the most under performing car on the road. I just hope the show goes on and that the BBC shows the cancelled episodes.

I only seen a few episodes of Topgear and really disliked Jeremy. One of the episodes I saw was him trash talking Amercian cars. He was testing 1970s Caddy and Lincoln land yachts against a modern day Volvo to show how awlful Amercian cars are.

I would think Doctor Who would be a bigger revenue generator than Top Gear? Its the big draw for BBC America.

He may trash talk a car in one episode and praise it to the heavens on another. It's just light entertainment, not to be taken at all seriously.
A few years ago Top Gear tore into a Renault, apparently a senior director from Renault saw it and demanded that Renault (UK) never advertised on the BBC again. 😀 😀 😀
Top Gear is by some margin the BBC's biggest earner, it sells to over 200 countries. Maybe Dr Who is a bigger draw in the USA but Top Gear earns more overall.

Roger.

That is surprising Topgear is bigger than Doctor Who.

I agree with RustyRoger that Top Gear is light entertainment only. I never really got into top gear don't really know why. I few of my favourite BBC items are Dr. Who, Wheeler Dealers, Planet Earth & World News. Wheeler Dealers is one of my favourite tv shows - got to love Ed & Mike, the kind of guys you'd love to hang out with.

It wont be the same without him. His arrogance is really what made the show funny to me. Richard and James are cool but they won't be nearly as funny without someone like him to ping off of, challenging their every move.

Perhaps the Top Gear presenters are an analogy of Dolly Parton's memorable quote: "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap."

All three of them are very well educated, and have driving abilities and mechanical knowledge without which their antics would just appear stupid without being entertaining.

I dare say Jeff Foxworthy is a very intelligent hardworking man as well.

Roger.
