Does anybody know what I would need to remove the AC compressor and AIR pump and have the rest of my acessories work? Do I need an idler pulley or a shorter belt with a different routing?

Hi. I have an Lo5 in a 93 cadillac. I'm surprised I havent found anyone else on here with one in their gbody? How does your car run and did you carry over the efi/computer or rebuild and go carb'd or what?! I had assumed that the 400 trans in my caddy wouldnt carry over to the gbody w/o the computer and didnt really consider it a viable option because I had hoped to probably stay carb'd up as oppose to efi

as for the removing ac - why?! even if it doesnt work I am pretty sure nobody makes the shorter pully to delete ac because the L05 wasn't a 'performance' engine like the LT1 that followed in the 94& up fleetwoods. I'm sure its not a common 'swap' choice. While my Fleetwood w/ the L05 is by no means fast, its not slow either. However I think in terms of 350's its probably one of the slowest ones GM made. I can tell you right now that in my 93 Fleetwood the A/C is integrated to a central 'climate control' computer in the middle of the dash above the radio central to the car. I can take a pic if you want! Anyway, Im no mechanic and Im sure someone who knows more about all this will be along shortly now that Im bumping this post further up again, but I suspect any performance gains by deleting the AC would be like... microscopic! Why not just leave it as is and in the event big money came into your life one day it's there to install running a/c at a later date. Are you down south / building a drag car ?

I'm really int in your setup sorry for the interrogation^ Im just fascinated b/c some of the guys w/ 2k+ posts were dissing the sh*t out of the L05 on here in an earlier post saying its not a viable option for the track and didn't really explain in depth why just told the guy 'forget about it that engine sucks for what you're trying to do just get something else' I believe they cited a 'lame stock cam' and this exact dillema you are now in as a few reasons why lol

ok, Im officially retarded. I checked your old posts and saw whats going on here (you got the engine from a caprice etc etc.) and obviously you want to do carburetor and delete the computer. Well like I was saying above I'm pretty sure the computer is involved in the shifting of the trans in the B-body Fleetwoods not sure about caprice. That guy blake442 said hes got a caprice maybe pm him about more info b/c he seem to know a lot about the car already

What I was trying to explain but was at a loss for words is this though. If you delete the AC I think you'll be out a heater too! In my fleetwood there is no seperate controls for heat/ac they are integrated climate control as 1. you choose a temp and then its 'hi fan - auto - low fan' and thats it. I dont know about you, but as for me Im keeping my heat! But I live in Indiana though got to have heat at this time of year.

I'm trying to keep the computer and TBI actually. I almost have the computer and wiring harness figured out. The only reason I'm getting rid of the A/C is because my car never had it so why bother? And the only reason I'm using the LO5 is because I got the motor and trans for only $500 so I'll probably build a motor to put in later.

I'd show you but the engine is still on a cart in the garage and the car is outside. Progress is kinda slow.
