How hard is it on driveline components if it keeps stalling in first gear? What is most likely to break? Do not need to diagnose. Just need to know answers to above questions. Thanks!

Depends on if it's stalling from a start or stop. If you are revving it up and trans dropping it to make it drive then everything is prone to failure. Rear end, u joints, drive shaft, tail shaft, flex plate, etc. If it's stalling as you come to a stop then it's not as bad. Disconnect the lockup converter.

When my converter went it took out a pump and later I found out the driveshaft was damaged. Mine had the issue of you hit the gas and in a few seconds the car acted like I hit the brakes and stall at times then. This happened when the car was new and it took a bunch of trips to the dealer until someone figured a bad torque converter and a few other internal issues.

What kind of car?

Sounds like your TCC solenoid went south and stuck in the on position or locked position and will cause the engine to stall when you put in gear.

My 85 SS. It happened during first couple of years I had the car and bought it in Oct of 84. At about 3200 miles the transmission was rebuilt because of a faulty torque converter and other issues.

Awrite guys,
The reason I wanted to know how hard this is to the driveline is because I was thinking of using this as theft deterrent. Cat's outta da bag. I'm not having issues with any of this thankfully.
